Radio Wales - Who We Are
Many of you pitch to us year in, year out, and we’d be delighted to see your ideas again. But every year, we’re always pleased to see new companies and individuals pitching for the first time. If you are new to us, this is what you need to know about ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio Wales. We’re the national station for Wales, creating radio that sits at the heart of Welsh life.
Our core audience is 45-64. What matters to them matters to us. We love to hear from our listeners and interact with them.
We want to reflect Wales back to our audience – with warmth, passion and insight. We want to entertain, educate and inform. We’re committed to growing our reach and shifting perceptions.
And we aim to attract our audience by providing:
- News That Resonates. Sharp, outstanding journalism with real impact. We want scrutiny, analysis, and current affairs—all through a distinctly Welsh lens.
- Sport That Speaks to Us. We’re looking for stories that go beyond the scoreline—moments that unite communities, reveal character, and reflect the pride, passion, and identity of Wales. Whether it’s grassroots glory or national triumph, we want sport that feels real, lived-in, and deeply Welsh.
- The National Conversation Speech-led content that’s bold, authentic, and thought-provoking. We’re after stories with edge, humour, and substance.
- Documentaries That Dig Deep. Uncover the untold. We want immersive storytelling that reveals, challenges, and captivates.

What is on offer
Our main commissioning round for 2026/27 is now open.
Many existing suppliers will be aware of the switch to the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½'s new pitching and commissioning system PiCoS.
Please be aware that Radio Wales will remain with the Proteus system for our 26/27 round.
If you are a new supplier to ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio, we will first need to create a PiCoS account for you or your company before we can create a Proteus account. We appreciate your patience as we transition between commissioning systems.
Independent companies who do not have a Proteus account and who wish to submit programme ideas, must first contact Ryan Angove ryan.angove@bbc.co.uk with the following information:
