Journalist & Broadcaster hosts a lively panel discussion with representatives from the creative industries in the West Midlands. Looking at existing opportunities for young people from under-represented communities in the region, hearing inspirational stories from their own experiences and advice on starting a career in the creative content industries
Marverine is a journalist, broadcaster, content creator and academic. Her media career spans over 30 years, the last 17 of which have been as a reporter, producer and presenter for some of Britain’s most watched and listened to news organisations: ITV Central News, ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Midlands Today, 5 Live, ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio 4, 5 News and Sky News.
She is currently the Director of the four BA (Hons) Journalism courses at the HuffPost Centre for Journalism at Birmingham City University.

Amrit Singh: Create Central Member and Creative Director of Rebel Creatives. Amrit is a multi-award-winning creative director, artist, public speaker and digital influencer from Birmingham. With over a decade of experience working in the design and advertising industry, Amrit has worked with top companies around the world delivering first class design, digital initiatives and lead successful campaigns.
Justin Edgar: Create Central Member and CEO of 104 Films. Justin is a director born in Handsworth. His last film, The Marker, starring John Hannah, was acquired by Netflix. He began his career at ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Birmingham’s Doctors and directed Large for Film Four aged just 26. He sits on the disability roundtable for the BFI and advocates for better representation of disabled people behind the camera.
Adaya Henry: Adaya is an actor, spoken word artist and proud Brummie. In 2018, she went viral with a poem called This Is For Brum, highlighting the talent in the region. It was recognised by Birmingham Live, ITV News and ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½, promoting her as an ambassador for the city. She has been selected to be a part of the 2020 BACK IN cohort with Daniel Alexander Film and Punch Records.
Harinder Sangha: Create Central Member and Operations Director of Sumo Digital. Sumo Leamington has just won the Diversity Award (for companies that encourage a diverse workforce in games) at the GamesIndustry.biz 2020 UK Best Places To Work Awards, as well as being recognised as one of the best places to work. Before she joined Sumo, Harinder worked in the industry for 12 years, working for SEGA and Codemasters. Harinder is a proud Ambassador for SpecialEffect, a charity that helps anyone with a physical disability that limits or stops them from playing games…play games. She is on the advisory board for Women in Games and has recently been elected to the board of Ukie.
