The Lightyears are a piano-led four-piece whose “catchy songs and spine-tingling harmonies” have earned them comparisons to The Beatles, Ben Folds Five and the Beach Boys. The Reading-based band have five releases, thousands of CD sales and 10 years of writing experience behind them – yet they are still only in their early twenties. They have played hundreds of gigs in London and Berkshire and in July 2004 supported The Levellers at Lincolnshire’s Riverside Festival. The Lightyears have attracted industry interest from EMI, Virgin Records, BMG Publishing, One Little Indian and a host of management companies. A&R mogul Peter Whitehead – who discovered Radiohead, Muse and Stereophonics – is a Lightyears fan and can often be seen at their gigs. Check out The Lightyears on the web at www.TheLightyears.com. The website contains hundreds of band photos, audio and video downloads and details of upcoming gigs. What the venues, promoters and the press have said about The Lightyears: “Harmony-drenched piano-led popsters” Time Out “The Lightyears’ innovative, soaring pop melodies and spine-tingling harmonies go down a storm with audiences. They’re on their way to great things… you heard it here.” The Troubadour, Earls Court “Top singer-songwriter talent” The Independent “The voices of the future” The Cobden Club, Notting Hill “This band have a knack. It’s the kind of knack that lots of bands would like, and too few actually have. It’s the knack of writing a damn fine tune” Plum Promotions (Water Rats, Betsey Trotwood) “By the end of the set you realise that your face hurts and you wonder why… and then you realise it's because you've been smiling for over an hour.” ѿý Online, Oxford “The Lightyears have some undoubtedly brilliant summer singles ahead of them and should be watched with hawk-eye precision” DoSomethingPretty.com
