Birmingham-born James Rea (pronounced 'Ray') has a full diary for the rest of 2007.

Performing as far away as Northampton and Manchester, James has been busy perfecting his unique blend of funk, acoustic and jazz.

Speaking live on ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ WM Introducing, James said:

"All my songs are about friends. Or if they're about me, I say they're about my friends. You've got to do that haven't you?"

James spoke passionately about the pros and cons of pursuing a career as a solo artist, given the common perception that it isn't as glamorous as being part of a band. He said:

"I think in some ways people might feel a little embarrassed to go and see a singer-songwriter. But I do think that some people think they can have a more personal relationship with me if they come to a gig. I don't mind that!"
