Sandwell storytelling cafe is back

Sandwell's storytelling cafe re-opens in September 2007 with the return of June Peters. More details here.

Mountain music, forest folk with June Peters.

The new season of the famous Sandwell Storytelling Cafe re-opens this September with a welcome return of June Peters.

She is a magical storyteller and mesmerising musician. She performs stories and music that explore our relationship with nature - with that spirit of laughter and extravagance that lies at the heart of nature and human nature, and with our darker impulses to possess and destroy.

These tales come from a huge range of cultures - west coast American Indian, ancient Iraq, the Caribbean and the white settlers of West Virginia. Its trickster Raven meets the ancient Mesopotamian spirit guardian of the forest, Humbaba, meets folksy lumberjack giant Tony Beaver, all to the foot-tapping fiddle music of the Appalachian mountains.

Hosted by the legendary Graham Langley.
