The Nightingales in Dudley

Revitalised 80's indie band The Nightingales will be playing a rare, free gig at The Lamp Tavern in Dudley on Saturday 1st December 2007.

Formed from the ashes of The Prefects, Birmingham's legendary first punk band, The Nightingales released many critically acclaimed singles and three albums, in addition to recording numerous sessions for their great champion John Peel.

The group split in the late 80s but started again in earnest in 2004. Original Prefects Robert Lloyd and Alan Apperley, will be complemented by Dudley/Stourbridge rhythm section Daren Garratt on drums, Stephen Lowe on bass and Wolverhampton's own teenage wunderkind guitarist Matt Wood.

The lads promise to unleash the same intense, uncompromising and incendiary live show in Dudley that they have performed in America and throughout two European tours in the last 12 months.

The Nightingales play The Lamp Tavern in Dudley on Saturday 1st December 2007. Support comes from comedian Ted Chippington and Mancunian all-girl three piece Hotpants Romance.

Entry to the gig is free with a voluntary whip-round for Medicins Sans Frontier.
