Title: El Policia Album Artwork

El Policia for me, visually define the term âgrungeâ; yet they contrast their âstereotypedâ image by quoting: âwe work quite organically.â The word âorganicâ makes me instantly associate with the colour green, so I therefore used green to denote El Policiaâs cleansed and honest approach to their music. Although it isnât a âdark and mysteriousâ tone of green, I believe it also denotes growth and their heritage; - their roots are firmly ploughed in South Manchester, yet they have still time to mature and âblossomâ in new soil elsewhere. I wanted to add a modern yet edgy retro artistic twist on their album; so I thought what better to do than create some Andy Warhol inspired pop art on Photoshop! El Policia said when they started out, they wrote on walls, so if you look carefully youâll see the art work is âgraffitiâ upon a huge brick wall. I specifically picked up on when they stated 1960âs music such as the Jimi Hendrix experience was one of their inspirations, so I added a pop art icon of Jimi Hendrix on Samâs tee-shirt. This defines the âheartâ to the centre of El Policia.
