From the internet to your TV

’s set-top box for delivering content from the internet to the TV has hit the marketplace.

Called , the sleek set-top box offers all the style one expects of their products. With a 40 GB hard drive, you can download movies and TV programs from , Apple’s online store and watch them on your TV. This is the kind of technology that can really make TV on Demand happen. Rather than watching programmes on your pc monitor, you can watch them from the couch. Right now, there isn’t a great deal of material to order from iTunes but that can change quickly – there are rumours that Apple are set to make an announcement about selling films soon.

All that, and you can download music, podcasts and your photos too.

The big question is whether it is easy to use or not. Apple’s Mac computer offers decent accessibility tools, but the iPod is a more challenging device. So the track record is mixed. We would like to hear from any early adopters. How easy is it to use? Do the menus give any audio help for navigating? Does the remote control have raised contour buttons? Is it worth rushing out to buy, or – for now at least – are we better sticking to using our computers and making the most of their accessibility tools?
