One of the main purposes of this blog - in fact THE main purpose of it - is to open up a direct channel of conversation between the people who run Radio Ulster and the people who listen to it.

In the past radio has been very much a one way medium - you tuned in at a certain time to hear a particular programme and if you had any issues about it you might (a) phone in (b) write a letter (c) send an e-mail or (d) grumble about it to your friends.

Hopefully now this is changing from a one way street into a two way street

So, regular listeners will know that over the last couple of weeks we have been telling you a lot about the schedule changes at Radio Ulster.

These have changed the content and the schedule for Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights.

So here is your chance to try us out and find out if we are listening.

After all the changes were brought in as a result of feedback from our audience - but are they working for you?

I live in the US and mostly only listen to ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio Ulster for McLean's Country - arguably one of the best country music programs I've ever heard.

Generally I listen to the show via the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio Player, but this week's episode is so fearfully distorted as to be painful to hear in spots.

This is not an unusual problem with this feed. Once, when I registered a complaint through channels I was told that there was no possible way the audio could be distorted, the evidence being that nobody had complained.

It was apparently beyond the ken of my then- correspondent to actually listen to the file, statistical evidence was sufficient.

Well since it's so horribly bad this week, perhaps someone in authority (or someone who simply has clean ears) could take a listen to the file.

cheers!

I agree with Elliot, the quality of Radio Ulster 'Listen again' is poor.

I have emailed several times and got no response.
I listen to the 'folk club' and the 'Late show' and they both suffer the same problem.

Some times OK but mostly not. You can rarely get through a program without distortion breaking through.
Same on several different computers.

Not a lot of point having a new schedule if its unlistenable!

I have asked about the issues you raise with listen again.

Yes there is a technical problem which is currently affecting the quality of the service.

That is being worked on at the moment and as soon as I have some information about when it will be fixed I will post it here.

Thanks for your patience.

What has happened to Cherrie McIlwaine ? Her late show Mon to Wed was by far the best show on radio Ulster. Where can I now listen to similar music, to that she used to feature. Please bring her back if for only one night a week.

I have been in contact with the people who know about these things and have been assured that listen again is now working properly. Thanks for your patience

Just a note to say I think it's a pity that Rhythm and Soul has gone off the air. It was the last remaining piece of regular Christian programming on the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ that appealed to anyone under 50.

Moving it to 8pm a while back pretty much killed the audience though. I look forward to hearing of the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½'s plans to introduce something new that will fill the gap they have created.
