About Dave Gordon (0)

I'm Head of Major Events at and really believe that I have one of the best jobs at the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½. I'm responsible for our forthcoming coverage of the , and am already heavily involved with the planning of all ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ output for . In between, there'll be the Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Commonwealth Games in Delhi plus a host of Athletics events. My responsibilities spread across tv, radio and online and I am literally like an old dog learning new tricks as I try to stay up to speed with all the latest media developments. Yes I confess to being the oldest member of the Sport management team - born in 1951!

My ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ career started in 1972, when I became a Radio Studio Manager, specialising in News, Current Affairs and Sports Programmes. I became a sports producer in 1979 and then senior sports producer in 1983. A year later I was editing Radio's daily sport news coverage. A move to Television followed in 1985 as an Assistant Producer in TV Sport. Following spells on Grandstand and then Sportsnight, I was made Assistant Editor of Grandstand in March 1990, Editor in October 1991, and Executive Editor in 1997. I got my current job in 2001.

Over the last 25 years, I've worked on seven Olympic Games, taking the editorial lead in Sydney & Athens; six Winter Olympics and seven Commonwealth Games. I also lead the editorial coverage of the events including the London Marathon, Great North Run and World and European Championships.

Outside of work, I'm married with two daughters, a lifelong supporter of and am struggling to learn to play the saxophone
