Expecting big news
Western diplomats anticipate that President Mubarak will shortly make a statement saying that he won't stand in September's elections. Diplomats have told the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ that they believe he will dissolve parliament to embark on wide-ranging constitutional reforms but he wishes to stay until the end of his term in September.
The State Department briefing has been cancelled the White House briefing due to start at 2.30 Washington time, delayed with no start time given. that President Obama has used his envoy Frank Wisner to tell President Mubarak not to run again.
This fits with what we've been hearing.
