BlowPop stretch out the Ashton Court party vibe
Blowpop logo

BlowPop residents Stereo 8, Mister Craig, John Stapleton, All Funked Up and Doctor Moody will crank up the party vibe after the festival has shut up shop for the night.

They will be joined by Freq Nasty Video Nasty Experience Live (Skint) Freestylers DJ set (Against the Grain) and Black Grass (Catskills).

A top tastic night will follow on from the end of Ashton Court on Saturday

Since the early beginnings back in 1996 the BlowPop crew has consistently put on top nights with the cream of DJing talent from home and abroad.

Flying in the face of the house-based music policies of many of Bristol's big venues, BlowPop put on breakbeat, hip hop and reggae attracting Mr. Scruff, Mark Rae, Jon Carter, the Wiseguyz, Propellerheads, Nightmares on Wax, Renegade Soundwave, and the Freestylers to the early parties.

Two years later when Julian Smith and Charles Newman, (behind Bristol's Head2Head) joined founder John Stapleton and BlowPop moved into the big league.

As the night's reputation grew, lots more artists were attracted to perform - from old hands like Afrika Bambaataa to new stars like Krafty Kuts and the Plump DJ's.

(The Plumps, Scratch Perverts and Krafty Kuts are now part of the BlowPop team as quarterly residents.)

Two years ago the night moved to Academy with its three rooms offering the opportunity to put on more varied artists.

This year with the lack of any dance arena a venue to extend the festival vibe is hugely welcome.

BlowPop is a sure bet to keep the party pumping into the wee small hours.
