Even though people in the UK and the USA both speak English, they don’t always use the same words, especially when it comes to food! Over time, the two countries have come up with their own ways of saying things. For example, what Brits call crisps, Americans call potato chips!
This happened because the English language changed in different ways as people in each country had new ideas, cultures, and traditions.
