Smart Works Client with Volunteer
I started my new job literally a week after my first appointment with Smart Works. With their help and advice, I got the job 2 days after my appointment and the first time in 12 years, I feel like I'm finally somewhere I belong.”
We would like to extend our thanks and gratitude to the listeners of ѿý Radio 4 who supported Smart Works’ recent appeal presented by our Ambassador, Sara Davies.
We raised over £4,000 which will help Smart Works to provide unemployed women with the coaching, clothing and confidence they need to secure employment and change the trajectory of their lives.
Women just like Bethany, whose inspiring story featured in our campaign. Bethany had been unemployed for 8 months and had applied for over 200 jobs before visiting Smart Works. Her confidence was at an all-time low and she faced multiple intersecting barriers to securing employment but remained determined to get a job. So, she turned to Smart Works for support. During her dressing appointment she worked with trained volunteers to find an outfit that made her feel confident and comfortable, followed by one-to-one coaching that equipped her with the practical skills she needed for her interview. She left Smart Works knowing she could and deserved to succeed. She got the job.
Every year Smart Works helps thousands of women break the cycle of hardship that results from unemployment. 67% get a job within a month. Bethany's story is illustrative of the transformative power of confidence and support, even in the face of significant challenges.
Thank you for supporting Smart Works to empower thousands of women across the UK into employment.
