ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Breakfast, report on the coverage of the Israel-Gaza ceasefire, 13 October 2025

Summary of complaint

We’ve received complaints from people who are unhappy with Henry Zeffman’s reference to "hostage exchange" during reporting of the Israel-Gaza ceasefire.

Our response

Henry Zeffman’s live report from Downing Street on ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Breakfast was offering political insight on what was taking place in the Middle East.

Although the language used could have been clearer, he was explaining what was happening at 7am, which was the release of the hostages by Hamas to the International Committee of the Red Cross. He was not referring to Palestinian prisoners being released which hadn’t started at that point.

ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ News has been clear about the status of the Israeli hostages held in Gaza since 7 October 2023 and Palestinian prisoners held by Israel, including many detained without charge.
