Complaint
A viewer complained that Richard Tice, the Deputy Leader of Reform UK, had been allowed to make misleading statements about climate change without effective challenge from the presenter.  The ECU considered the complaint in the light of the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½â€™s editorial standards of accuracy and impartiality.
Outcome
Although the presenter did not directly question the accuracy of Mr Tice’s statements, she did point out that he appeared to have recently changed his views on the extent to which his position had scientific support. This, taken with the robust challenges to his position from other panellists, was enough to ensure the level of accuracy and impartiality appropriate to a free-flowing discussion in which a range of conflicting viewpoints is represented.
