Has it been another week already?! It’s been mayhem for me this week, flitting between two jobs and trying to squeeze in time to see my friends. As you can tell I survived Drayton Mannor which turned out to be an amazing day. I surprised myself and got on every ride including Apocalypse, which I’d bottled out of on previous visits.

This week has been a fun-packed one at the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ as I’ve been helping out with the Blast Academy. This is a week-long scheme where 10 young people participate in various activities at ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Coventry & Warwickshire. It’s been eventful to say the least. Wednesday’s activity was painting. We had a huge canvas and the Blast Academy members were asked to decorate it using a selection of acrylic paints and other materials. It was going really well until the idea of spatter-painting was brought up. Ten people flicking brushes loaded with paint… you don’t need me to tell you how things went from there, but lets just say I spent a lot of time on my knees cleaning spots of blue and green from the wooden floor.

At the end of the day disaster struck when one of the tables collapsed, spilling dirty water, paint, glitter and glue everywhere! I’m still pulling glitter out of my hair now. After a long shower and fresh clothes I got another taste of that glitzy ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ treatment. I reviewed a comedy show at Carey’s nightclub. I took a few friends along for company and we had a fantastic night. We were given free entry, free drinks, and a reserved table next to the stage complete with a little sign with my name on it. In a typical student fashion I stole the sign afterwards and now it’s on my bedroom wall! It was a fantastic experience and I got a bizarre but brilliant taste of Italian rap by comedian Stefano Paolini! The comedians were fantastic, though the jokes were very adult, leaving me wondering if there was anything I could safely incorporate into the review. I really enjoyed myself and I think I’ll drag a few friends along next time just for a night out.

Today I’ve taken a quick break from the Blast Academy to write this diary. They’re making films today with a strange array of props and a barmy script idea. It’s been great fun though, and anything which involves me acting like an idiot wearing a white wig to rival Gandalf’s (from Lord of the Rings) hair is all good in my books! My summer is speeding by at an alarming rate and I think I’ve slipped into working here quite easily. I’ll forget the odd thing or get a little confused but everyone is very friendly and I’m having a (dare I say it?) blast… oh dear. So here’s to next week, where I may hopefully get at least one lie-in… no? Well, I didn’t think so either! |
