Kerry's Diary

By Blast reporter Kerry Gill
It's the fifth week of my ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Blast experience and time for another diary. So catch up with me here as I prepare for a night of Shakespeare at the cathedral, Teen Idol interviews and recover from a muddy weekend at the Reading Festival.

Hello everyone! There's not much to update you on this week as I’ve had a few days off, but now I’m back at my desk and ready to start blasting again!

This weekend I was at the Reading Festival which has to be the most unhygienic and funniest weekend in the year. Many of my highlights include a few food fights, improvising hilarious songs around a campfire, meeting strange people and seeing bands of course.

Going to Reading is the only holiday I get most years so I look forward to it a lot. This year was fantastic, especially as a lot of my favourite artists were on the billing. I got to see the likes of Muse, Placebo, Maximo Park, The Subways, and a whole host more, but there were plenty of acts that I missed because their performance times clashed with someone else’s. It was difficult choosing who I wanted to watch the most, and if they were worth waiting for in the rain.

The atmosphere in the campsite is always good because everyone is really friendly and sociable. I had a great time just chatting to new people but primarily the best part was spending the weekend with a fantastic bunch of mates. Exactly the chill-out I needed to recharge my batteries and get ready to finish my last few weeks here at ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Coventry & Warwickshire with a bang ... or a blast I suppose would be a better word!

This week I’ll be going to watch a performance of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night's Dream which is to be held at Coventry's old cathedral. I’m really looking forward to it as I’m a bit of a Shakespeare fan -Ìý the years studying Shakespeare in school obviously had some affect on me. The show will be running from the Wednesday, 30 August until the Saturday.ÌýWe have a preview on the website of what you can expect from what promises to be a magical night. Early next month I will also be interviewing the midlands' very own Teen Idol for 2006, so keep checking the Coventry Blast page to see a feature on the best of local talent. It’s going to be a busy few weeks for me.

ÌýI think I need a holiday.
