Paramedic Andy Allen

ECPs: A new breed of paramedics

The first at the scene

Faye Claridge spent a day with First Responder Paramedic Andy Allen, racing to give medical help throughout Coventry & Warwickshire.

Faye Claridge knew the day shadowing a paramedic would be exciting, but being a passenger in Andy Allen’s day was even more than she expected.

First, the early start, then the strain of being ready but having to wait for any 999 calls. As a First Responder, Andy is stationed around Coventry and Warwickshire in an ambulance car, the quickest way of getting to an incident on four wheels.

The day was a roller-coaster of incidents and long waits, but as the video shows, the most important and rewarding part was seeing Andy help a number of people, all of whom rely on the Coventry & Warwickshire NHS.
