Make a bug log cabin

Learn how to make a bug log cabin, which is a perfect home for ladybirds, lacewings and other bugs. These bugs help to keep pests, such as aphids, away.

What you need to build the log cabin

  • Bamboo canes
  • String
  • Scissors
  • Wicker (optional)

1) Bundle up the bamboo canes and tie them together with string.

2) Roll the bamboo canes inside the wicker. Tie up with string again.

3) Tie a length of string on it and hang it up in the garden.

Things to consider when positioning the cabin

  • Ladybirds like to hibernate in the nooks and crannies in dead wood
