The owners of Derby's newest live entertainment venues are hoping two emerging talents can help win over the city's music fans. Rock acts Elliot Minor and Koopa will play The Venue, on Abbey Street, on Thursday 28th June and Thursday 5th July respectively. Elliot Minor are a five-piece from York whose music combines rock and classical elements. Their first single made the top 40 and they've been playlisted on MTV2.

Meanwhile Koopa made chart history earlier this year by becoming the first unsigned band to break into the top 40. They've since scored a second top 40 hit and recently opened the Isle of Wight festival as well as supporting The Feeling. Elliot Minor will be supported by Saving Grace and Shibby and tickets cost £6 advance and on the door. Support for Koopa comes from The Parents, Max Raptor and The Maybeez. Tickets are £3 advance and £4 on the door. The venue also plays host to live comedy from Jongleurs and several tribute bands.
