Elvis fanatics have the chance to grill one of the star's closest friends at a convention in Derby this month.

Sonny West, a former bodyguard and friend to the legend, is the special guest at 'Elvis: Party in the Park' which takes place at Pride Park on 18th August.

In two years working with Elvis Presley, Sonny witnessed the singer’s triumphant comeback in Las Vegas, was with him throughout his gruelling concert tours in the seventies and even accompanied his boss when he made a surprise visit to President Nixon at the Whitehouse.

Elvis also offered Sonny roles in some of his movies and was best man at his wedding.

Now 69, Sonny will be talking to fans about his time with Elvis and signing copies of his new book 'Elvis: Still Taking Care Of Business.'

The Pride Park event has been organised by Elvis.co.uk. Hosted by Dave Richards, the day will feature an all-Elvis disco, cooked buffet dinner and live rock 'n' roll from the Hayriders.

It coincides with the 30th anniversary of the star's death
