The 43-year-old sportswoman will first try to secure a place in the finals of the Land Rover G4 challenge - a series of tough physical and mental challenges which, if she is successful, could send her on a three-week endurance test in Outer Mongolia next year. Gill's G4 starts with her competing in the national event in Herefordshire as one of a number of hopefuls. But she says there aren't too many details about what's in store available. Speaking to ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio Derby, Gill said: "We've been given a latitude and a longitude to find for the start - and if you're not there by 7am on the day you're straight out! "I don't know what they're going to do [to us]!"
Help playing audio/video Gill is sure that she'll be given plenty of outdoor challenges to do - cycling, climbing, skating etc - but she also knows that there will be plenty of problem solving to be done, too. And if she makes it though to the final stages Gill is likely to find herself driving a four-wheel-drive vehicle around some of Outer Mongolia's toughest terrain - plus having to find novel ways of jacking it up, changing wheels and a liberal sprinkling of seemingly impossible tasks to perform. But the fitness instructor is realistic about her chances: "Sixty of us will arrive - and then on day one you're whittled down to 24 then... down to four - two men and two women - and those four go to the international selections. "I think I've got a good chance of getting through to the last 24. I'd really like to be in the last four - I just hope I get through it and do myself proud." Gill already knows she'll be up against a variety of competitors - including extreme skiers and a pole dancer! And once she's been through the initial selection stages for the G4, Gill will fly out to Estoril for the Portugal XPD race - a gruelling 600 km, 90-hour endurance test which will require Gill and her team to use all their adventure racing skills to the full - with a place in next year's World Championships at stake.
