Josie Lloyd

Singer songwriter Josie Lloyd from Ashburton plays us one of her songs, No Mans Land.

Q: Tell us about your musical background.
A: I've been playing guitar and singing since I was a little girl - alone and in a load of bands. I'm a singer songwriter living on Dartmoor, returning to music after many years away. It's all very encouraging - I've been asked to perform at Fordstock, and at Evolve Weymouth Festival. So fingers crossed.

Q: Which three words best describe your music?
A: Newfolk, relevant, interesting.

Q: Whose records do you have in your collection?
A: Joni Mitchell, John Martyn, Roy Harper, Jeff Buckley - the ones who weave wonders with their words.

Q: Which of your songs are you auditioning?
A: It's called No Mans Land. I tell it like I see it - stories about things that happen to everyone.

Q: What has been your most memorable gig and why?
A: The Grove last year (2007) - the oldest folk club in England - my first time on stage for years.

Q: Complete the sentence: "When I become famous..."
A: "...I'll try not to let it go to my head."

Q: In your own words, sell yourself.
A: Damn good lyricist, who sure knows her way round a guitar.
