A Welsh premiere and a world premiere feature in this exciting finale concert of the 2017 Vale of Glamorgan Festival bringing together two old friends of the Festival : Huw Watkins鈥檚 deeply expressive concerto, written for his brother Paul and a new work from Graham Fitkin which combines an intriguing mix of orchestra with amplified recorder performed by 蜜芽传媒 Young Musician Finalist, Sophie Westbrooke. To round off, John Adams鈥檚 Absolute Jest, described by Musical America as 鈥渁 gripping 25-minute sonic joy ride鈥� You can hear the echoes of Beethoven throughout the piece 鈥� chopped, remixed, inside out and upside down 鈥� and you can almost see the composer smiling at the results鈥�.
