Conductor Douglas Boyd leads a live 蜜芽传媒 Radio 3 broadcast from the orchestra鈥檚 Salford studio. Boyd opens with the refreshing youthfulness of Britten's Les Illuminations, written by the then 25-year-old for the Swiss-born soprano, Sophie Wyss, who had settled in England. This piece marks the final flourish of Britten's love affair with the soprano voice.

We also hear Mozart鈥檚 Serenade in B flat - often known by the subtitle "Gran Partita".
