The prestigious Leipzig Gewandhausorchester 鈥� the world鈥檚 longest-established symphony orchestra, famous for the glossy richness of its 鈥楲eipzig sound鈥� 鈥� returns to the Proms under Music Director Andris Nelsons.

Joining them is violinist Isabelle Faust, soloist in Dvor虒a虂k鈥檚 colourful, folk-inspired Violin Concerto.

The elemental power of Sibelius鈥檚 Symphony No. 2, with its heroic final movement, has become indelibly associated with Finland鈥檚 fight for freedom, no less personal a statement than the fragile, hypnotic beauty of Arvo Pa虉rt鈥檚 tribute to Benjamin Britten.

NB: Hilary Hahn has had to withdraw from this Prom due to an ongoing injury.
