Better known as the electro-pop duo the Pet Shop Boys, Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe make their Proms debut here as composers. The world premiere of their large-scale work A Man from the Future, inspired by code-breaker Alan Turing, sits alongside new orchestral arrangements of favourite Pet Shop Boys songs.

Returning for its second concert this season, Les Arts Florissants is joined by founder-conductor William Christie for a Late Night Prom that transforms the Royal Albert Hall into the gilded splendour of the Chapel Royal at Versailles, combining choir, orchestra and soloists for Rameau鈥檚 Grands Motets.

Singer and broadcaster Clare Teal transports us back to the 1930s, as two of the greatest swing bands of the day 鈥� one led by Count Basie, the other by Duke Ellington 鈥� faced off in a memorable Battle of the Bands. In this Late Night Prom, present-day leaders James Pearson and Grant Windsor fight it out in their own, roof-raising battle.

The Aurora Orchestra and Nicholas Collon contrast Mozart鈥檚 graceful Symphony with two much newer pieces: Dobrinka Tabakova鈥檚 hurdy-gurdy-inflected Spinning a Yarn and Benedict Mason鈥檚 audacious 蜜芽传媒 commission, Meld.

Brit Award- and Mercury-nominated singer-songwriter Laura Mvula returns to the 蜜芽传媒 Proms for an intimate Late Night Prom 鈥� a cabaret-style evening of music that couches Mvula鈥檚 talents in rich orchestral textures.

Celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, the Monteverdi Choir returns to the Proms under Sir John Eliot Gardiner for one of the greatest choral works of the repertoire 鈥� Beethoven鈥檚 mighty Missa solemnis. Join them on this tumultuous spiritual journey in music that defies simple resolution.

Brit Award-nominated Paloma Faith brings her sleek vocals and retro style to a Late Night Prom. The British singer-songwriter is joined by a 42-piece Jazz Orchestra and the Urban Voices Collective. This is cabaret, Royal Albert Hall-style.

On Sir Peter Maxwell Davies鈥檚 80th birthday, the Proms pays tribute in a concert of works selected by the composer himself. The concert overture Ebb of Winter captures the rugged beauty of Davies鈥檚 Orkney home. We see a different side of island life in the joyous ebullience of his Orkney Wedding, with Sunrise; the virtuosic fourth Strathclyde Concerto, for clarinet and orchestra, completes the concert.

Joined by the instrumentalists of the Britten Sinfonia, Canadian-American, Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Rufus Wainwright performs a spectacular set, taking over the Royal Albert Hall with his own brand of 鈥楤aroque pop鈥� that references everything from opera to ragtime, Lieder and jazz.
