Climbers do exactly that. In nature, it's a means of getting to the light, using something else as a support. In the garden, climbers are great because they introduce another vertical element to the overall look. |

 |  There are as many climbing roses as there are shrubby roses, but this is one of the best. It is an upright climber, and can be pruned to be a shrub. It produces a profusion of double flowers that are a full 10cm (4in) across. |
