Welcome to the Gloucestershire Community Toolkit - the ultimate
guide to getting a community project off the ground, and keeping
it going.
It
features practical advice, common sense suggestions, a directory
of useful contacts, lots of helpful information and an opportunity
to share the experiences of others through a host of real-life
success stories.
The
Gloucestershire Community Toolkit has been produced by the Gloucestershire
County Council Economic Development Unit in partnership with
the Gloucestershire Market Towns Forum and the Gloucestershire
Neighbourhood Projects Network, in association the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Gloucestershire.
It
brings together a wealth of experience of working with and supporting
community organisations and individuals from all over the county,
and helping them turn their ideas into reality.
First
things first
This
Toolkit aims to help people in Gloucestershire to get ideas
and initiatives off the ground. It is a 'first step' guide which
includes useful advice and information from people who have
either gone through the process themselves, or from experienced
practitioners who have helped them.
To
get the most from the Toolkit, we suggest you look first at
the Four Steps to Success
page to help you take on board all the different elements you
need to address if you want your community idea to become reality.
This has been written as a result of talking to people who have
helped a variety of other initiatives - and who know and understand
the pitfalls.
The
People, Local
Services, Buildings,
Working & Learning, Environment
and Active Community pages
are each dedicated to different community project themes. Each
has useful signposts to organisations and services which may
be able to help you and real-life success stories.
Beelines
features a selection of case histories from successful community
and regeneration projects complete with key tips and information
on funding sources and useful contacts. To print out Beelines
and other sections of the toolkit in their entirety see
our Downloads page.
