The Stroud Valleys Visual Arts Festival is now in its seventh year and once again early summer in Stroud looks set to be a vibrant and colourful affair.

Colourful banners will decorate Stroud's town centre

Especially since celebrated textile artist Shona Watt has been commissioned to design the festival's flags and banners for the second year running.

This year's festival has been organised by Stroud Valleys Artspace and runs from June 1 to June 30. The month-long series of events will focus on 25 exhibitions profiling more than 235 local, regional and national artists.

Two exhibitions featuring selected works by members of Stroud Valleys Artspace will take place at The Museum in The Park and Dyers Mill Gallery and the Subscription Rooms and Ruskin Mill will be hosting two themed shows.

The pieces in the themed shows have been selected from an open submission and will be exhibiting both traditional and contemporary works.

The festival also aims to profile galleries throughout the district including the Prema Arts Centre, Studio Works Gallery and the Stroud House Gallery - among others.

Sadly, the Open Studios events are not part of the festival this year. Although the organisers do intend to include it in the programme next June.
