With
a wonderful abundance of farmers' markets and farm shops in
Gloucestershire you are never far way from a natural pantry.
What
could be more enjoyable than picking up a few items, placing
them in your cool bag and exploring the Cotswolds, Forest
of Dean or Stroud Valleys.
This
is what chef Robert Rees puts in his hamper:
Days
Cottage Apple Juice and a bottle of Freeminers
Speculation Ale
Cerney
Goats Cheese, Birdwood Blue and some Charles
Martell Single Gloucester - keep nice and chilled
and bare in mind that if you are using unpasturised Cheeses
to let any pregnant woman know.
Some
Apples and Pears from Hayles Fruit Farm
Bookmaker
Sandwich - (a traditional Beef Sandwich taken to the
races). Frocester Fayre Sirloin Steaks pan roasted with
Selsley Black Olive Mustard. Placed in either some
Ciabatta or WI Market Bread. Topped with
Duchy Mixed Salad Leaves and Tony Free Watercress.
A
few various Chutneys from Kitchen Garden Preserves-
not forgetting their creamy Horseradish !!
Some
sliced Tomatoes from Over Farm with chopped Spring
Onions, Ham from Duntisbourne Meats, Cold Spicy
Sausages from Adeys, perhaps a little Trout Pate
from Purely Organics, Celery from Duncan Paget
and Little Gems and Herbs from Duchy and LETS
allotments.
Dont
forget - for pudding get some fresh mixed Summer Berries from
Falfield Fruit Farm sprinkled with Lavender flowers
from the Lavender Garden Company for a twist of exoticness.
