A-level
results can bring agony and ecstasy to students who have waited
all summer to find out their results.
But
luckily we found a few sixth formers at St Benedict's Catholic School
who were extremely pleased with their results.
Eighteen-year-old
Gemma Bond opened her A-level results live on air with ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio
Gloucestershire.

Gemma
is chuffed to bits with her A-level results |
Gemma
was awaiting her English, Geography and Art and Design results.
She
said: "I got two grade A's and a grade B so I'm chuffed to
bits.
"My
results mean I can now go to Exeter University in October to study
Law and I can't wait. I'm really pleased because I got the results
I was predicted."
But
Gemma can't start celebrating just yet.
"Unfortunately
I have to work tonight so I can't celebrate straight away, but I
will definitely be going out afterwards."

Brett
got the grades he needs to study Aerospace engineering |
Sixth
former Brett Pittaway studied Maths, Physics and Biology. He got
a B and two grade C's.
He
said: "I was hoping for a B in Physics aswell but they've let
me in to study Aerospace Engineering at Loughborough University
so I'm well happy."
But
what happens if you don't quite get the grades you were hoping for?
Student
Kieran Kelly, is a man who knows. He got a grade B, C and D in Maths,
Physics and Business - two points less than he needed to go to Cardiff
University.
He
now has an agonising wait to find out if he can get into the university
of his choice.
 |
Kieran
Kelly has to wait until the weekend to celebrate his exam results |
Kieran
said: "I didn't do as well as I hoped but I've just called
Cardiff University and hopefully I'll get on to the engineering
course.
"I
expected to get a B and two C's but I'll just have to wait and see
what the university says.
"They
are going to ring me back, and as I'm only two points away I'm keeping
my fingers crossed."
Kieran
will be putting his celebrations on hold, as like many of the other
A-level students he has to work in an attempt to save funds before
he goes to university.
"I
have a job, to try and save some money, so I have to work tonight
but I'll definitely be going out at the weekend for a big meal and
some beers."

Jenny's
off to Northampton University |
A student
who knows where her academic future lies is Jenny Wilcox, who was
really pleased with her A-level results.
Jenny
studied Business, Geography and English and got two grade D's and
a grade C.
She
said: "I'm really pleased because I got enough points to get
into Northampton University, so I'm really happy.
John
Murray, headmaster of St Benedict's is extremely pleased with the
A-level results gained by his students this year.
 |
John
Murray, a proud headmaster |
He
said: "Most of the students here today have heard they've got
their university places which is fantastic.
"The
big thing now is not so much the grades the students get but whether
they get the place at university."
When
asked about the proposed new UCAS system where students won't apply
to university until after they receive their A-level results, John
said: "I think the new system will be fairer to everybody because
there are youngsters who work really hard and do well but then have
to wait days for confirmation.
"With
the new system when students have the results in the bag, they can
then go along with their results, and with their references, and
can be interviewed on the basis of what they've done not on how
they might do."

"I'm
very proud of the students today and also the teachers, who have
worked very hard for all the kids."
