Nikki,
a 23 year old journalism and creative writing student from Cheltenham,
has been named as Zest magazine and Alpro Soya Face of Fitness.
She was announced the winner after impressing a panel of judges
at the magazine's London office. She said:
"The
competition was a way of getting an insight. I was watching what
all the girls on the magazine were doing, and it was a good opportunity
for networking. I was so pleased that I got the chance to meet the
magazine editor - I never believed I'd get such an opportunity!"
Aspiring
writer
Having
a glimpse of life on a glossy magazine was a real treat for the
aspiring health and beauty writer. She was encouraged to apply to
university as a mature student by a work colleague. She explained:
"I
didn't think I'd be disciplined enough to do all the work, but I've
been so happy since I came here, it's really good.
If
I'd done the course when I'd left school, it wouldn't have meant
so much, but now I'm more mature, I know what I want to get from
it."
As
well as studying full-time, Nikki works 21 hours a week as an administrator
for a housing association.
Future
hopes
And
as for the future - she would rather be working behind the scenes,
but hopes that her experience in front of the camera will stand
her in good stead.
Nikki
will be appearing on the cover of Zest magazine in February 2005
