Studying
for a degree whilst looking after a toddler might be challenging
enough, but full-time mum and part-time University of Gloucestershire
student, Janette McCutcheon has also just published her fourth book.
Memorabilia
Cruise
ship fanatic Janette has one of the largest collections of memorabilia
in the UK, relating to the 'Queen' ships Mary, Elizabeth, the QE2
and the QM2.
Her
latest book, Cunard: A Photographic History uses many previous unseen
images from her exhaustive collections of photographs and picture
postcards.
Full
of treasures
Janette
and her husband Campbell's house in Gloucester is crammed full of
treasures collected over the years from specialist collectors' fairs,
antique shops and auction websites.
Some
of her most cherished possessions include a panel from the White
Star Liner, Olympic (Titanic's sister ship), a wrapped souvenir
cigar from the Queen Mary's maiden voyage and a rare photograph
of the Titanic setting off on her first and final journey.
Travel
journalist
Janette
is taking modules in International Tourism and Journalism, to help
fulfil her ambition of becoming a travel journalist, specialising
- naturally, in cruise ships. Janette said:
"Attending
the University of Gloucestershire is a wonderful experience. As
a mature student, I didn't think I would fit in, but the staff have
been great, my lectures have been so informative and my fellow students
are fantastic. I am having the time of my life!"
