The Glad Rags

The Glad Rags

Southampton band Glad Rags were in the South:Live Lounge to give us the world live premier of some new tracks destined for their forthcoming album.

Formed in 2007, the Southampton six-piece launched their first single, Better Boy penned by singer Luke Donovan last year - and to emphasise their classic retro influences, it came out on seven inch vinyl.

As well as receiving plaudits here, the band are also making in-roads in Japan - an independent record store there requested copies of the single, after fellow Southampton band Thomas Tantrum put the word about them while in the Far East themselves.Ìý

There is now interest from a Japanese label in putting out an alternative version of their forthcoming album.

The band have also moved on musically in the couple of year's they've been together The classic British pop of Better Boy has been replaced by some new influences as Luke explained:-

"We just got tired of concentrating on gigging, playing songs we wrote three years before.Ìý But what we were into and listening to had moved on and it's only now after we took a break and got some broader influences that they're starting show through now."
