Peter Purves was first on our television screens in the mid 1960's as Steven Taylor, who was one of the early time-travelling companions in Doctor Who, opposite William Hartnell. After leaving the show, Peter became a regular presenter on the children's television programme Blue Peter, and was one of the longest-serving, fronting the show from 1967 to 1978.
