My grandfather signed up to the Royal Marines in 1917, posted to Murmansk in 1918 and went on to be a Royal Marine reserve between the wars.

In 1940 he was posted to Lympstone in Devon as driver to the camp commander.

Unfortunately I know very litle of his time there, other than that he was billeted in Woodbury. He once told me of the sword/riding crop he bought my father to protect himself from paratroopers when out riding.
