I started nursing at 17 in the fever hospital. I stayed there until I reached the age for general nursing.

I met my late husband going across the market square in Salisbury, we were changing buses to go home.

Once we met we didn’t see each other for 6 weeks. He knew I was a nurse and didn’t have much time off.

His friends bet him 5 bob that he wouldn’t keep his first date with me. Well he certainly won his bet!
