This poem was found in an old register at the Beragh school by former headteacher Beryl Boyd.It is written by Billy Foster

The Flanders Poppy

On remembrance day from
Far away,
Comes the little Flanders flower,
As we look at it and remember
We think of that cheer-racked hour.

When the great World War was ended,
And we had won once more,
Great Britain was triumphant,
Against the Nazi’s on the floor.

That’s why we buy a poppy,
A tribute for to pay,
Go those who fought on Flanders fields,
Some lie beneath the clay.

Far across the channel,
Each in a silent grave,
These men fought well and bravely
Old England for to save
