This story was submitted to the Peoples War site by Gwen’s sister Edwina joined women’s Royal Air force and went away down south where she met her husband who was stationed Lincolnshire. Her husband Steven who was a southern Irish man was sent to France for the D-Day landing he eventually came home from their in February this is when they got married. Then he had to go back not France in his unit somewhere in England while he was there her sister was demobbed but her husband wasn’t until around 1946. When he came home to Liverpool he lived with her sisters mum until they got themselves a house although he settled in England his wife (Gwen’s sister) he still went over to Ireland to visit family. The rest of our family and were employed in war work.
