Because of the nature of the operations carried out by this squadron, there is precious little information about it or what they did. Most of their activities involved dropping supplies or people into occupied Europe from specially adapted Halifax Bombers. Also the crew did not mix much so little information was pooled or shared. My Father (Tony Stone) recently asked if I could search the Internet to find out what (if any) information about his squadron was available and if possible to find out where he exactly flew on operations, only the navigator knew the exact locations of the drop zone.

I have a website where pictures of my Father and crew along with pictures of them in North Africa can be seen.

Members of 624 Squadron recently visited Pic Du Douley in France to honour, with the French who have been looking after the a crews grave since they crashed into a mountain attempting to drop supplies for the resistance to hold back a German Panzer division from the Normandy Landings.
