MILITARY EXERCISES.
Mr. Basil de la Mare of Courtil Blicq Farm, St. Andrew's told how, without notice, a group of soldiers came to the house to set up a base in it. Basil, who was worried at what they might see in the house, told them they should not use it as his grandmother was bed-ridden upstairs. This did not deter them as they went about their manoeuvres, including putting an armed man inside the window of the old lady's bedroom.
