George Newey married a sister of my Father's side of the family and was a serving officer in the Royal Navy on HMS Hood. Fate decreed that he was posted to Captain a Corvette on Atlantic convey patrol. My father received from him a pair of engraved HMS Hood cufflinks, which are still in the family's possession.
Shortly after my uncle's posting to the Corvette, HMS Hood was sunk by the Bismark.
