I got married during the war, had a cake but no icing, only rice paper but looked great! I came down Sutton high sreet once, streamers shutting off the road, I snuck under them to get home. Dad asked how I got home, I said through the streamers, he said that they there for a reason, a bomb being the reason! I got a real telling off. Also I remeber the battle of britain around September 1940 when the spitfires were putting up a good fight above over the croydon aerodrome, a marvellous sight despite the outcome.
