One morning while we were at school during the morning play time, the children were playing as normal, when suddenly the sound of aircraft was heard, looking up , we saw a german aircraft coming straight towards us it was quite low, following behind it was a raf spitfire suddenly there was machine gun fire.all the children were screaming most of them laid down, myself and one or two others stood frozen flat against the wall of the school hall, right in the line of fire, suddenly there was, an almighty cracking sound, the bullets smashing the slates of the hall roof.we were covered in slate fragments and dust , but luckily no one was hurt just very scared.
