The factory where I worked when I was sixteen, organised work on rotas and I had to learn how to use the fire extinguishers when we went on fire watching duty.We received one shilling per night.
At ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ we would use the cellar as our shelter when the sirens went off and I hated the spiders running all over the coal in the house.
Most of all I hated all the darkness, black out curtains and no lamps at night.
