Dogs don't understand when there is a war on and still need to be taken for a walk. I set off up the street on my daily dog walking duties. I heard a noise coming up from behind me. When I turned around there was a German plane flying low and shooting its machine guns. It was so low that I could see the swastica on the plane and the pilots shooting the guns. I've never ran so fast before or since and all the while I was worrying for the dog. We got to safety unders some trees. The plane came down about half a mile further along taking with it a milk float. It was just one of the near misses I encountered during the war.
