Just befor and during the war, my mum and dad had a fish and chip shop. During the war when everything was rationed, and people didn’t have a lot of money, they would exchange their ration coupons for fish and chips, and so as a young boy I always had plenty of sweet coupons as sweets were one of the things they rationed.
