In the A.T.C I was a Flight Sergeant, this was when it was first formed. There were a lot of cadets back then like Peter Mower, Peter Waddle and the Commanding Officer was Captain Blowers. Peter Waddle was mad on the R.A.F. and when he was old enough he wanted to go into the R.A.F. and become a pilot so when he was old enough he joined and eventually he became a pilot, after serving in the war he went and flew for Arab air forces who gave him good pay and in the end on his last flight he flew with Swiss airline until retirement. When he was flying he found a Swiss women, 鈥淚 do not remember her name鈥 but any way they both got married and now they both live in Switzerland. When he moved to Switzerland I lost all contacted with him so about 6 months a go I asked my son to look on friends reunited web site gave him all the details I knew and with in half an hour I had a phone call and the man on the other end said 鈥渄o you know who I am鈥 and I said 鈥 no鈥 then he said 鈥 my name is 鈥淧eter waddle鈥 I am the pilot who married the Swiss women and from that point on we were talking to one and another for at least 1 hour. This year he was coming to London for a medical test because know he is retired he wants to buy his own plane and fly privately for him self and he was going to visit me but he did not have enough time so in the near future I am hoping that he will come back over here so we get back to gether and go through all the good memories we had when we were in the A.T.C.
Another story is when me and Peter had left air cadets, and when Peter had his pilots license and I was working in garrets Peter came round and said 鈥 right come on we are going out鈥 and I said 鈥渨here are we going鈥 and he said 鈥 I am taking you down to Ipswich airport and taking you flying鈥 so off we went down to Ipswich and I had be thinking about it because this bloke is a bit crazy when it come to things like this so when we got down there I said to him 鈥 I can not do it because I know what your like when we are together and we do things like this鈥 and he said 鈥 I agree with you I knew you were not going to come鈥 so he went up in the aeroplane on his own and I stood on the ground watching him and from that day forward I have my a bit weary of going flying, but I went up in tiger moth after that and I was scared but I was in good hands because he was an R.A.F pilot and vhe knew what he was doing so we got in it and I was sitting in the front of the plane and he was sitting in the back he could talk to me but I could not talk to him so I had to just shake my head and nod my head for the answers, any way we went up and he said hold on tight so I did and all of a sudden we went straight up and he stalled it, it was meant to happen any way we done it and as we were coming back down I felt alright it was not to scary and I could of done all again, and as we were coming down I was wondering how my legs would fell would they be alright of would they be all wobbly and as I got out of the plane and stood on the ground they were fine I could of done that 10 times more in a row one after the other, and from that day forward I have been a bit weary of flying but they were the happiest days of my life in the Air Training Corps.
